her first valentine's day

here's elise sporting her v-day outfit. it's a good thing valentine's day came soon or else that onesie may not have fit her much longer!
she got a bit sidetracked during our photo shoot...she loves those ceiling fans.

and this was her response when i told her she was too young for chocolate :)

me and my daddy

elise loves her daddy. when he comes home from work, the first thing he does is give mama a kiss and then elise gets one too. he holds her, rocks her, talks with her, plays with her, makes her smile, laughs at her gas (we both do), puts her to sleep, changes countless diapers, keeps the fire in the stove hot for her, keeps josie from licking her face (if you could smell josie's breath you'd understand why) and loves her. not to mention the countless things he does for me and how he tries hard to relieve my mothering duties when he can so that i can have a break. i could not ask for a more amazing husband or a more amazing father for our daughter. God has blessed elise and me above and beyond all that we could ask for or imagine. as she grows up, i hope and pray she knows how much we love each other and how much we love her.

bath by the fire

elise had a bath today right by the fire. daddy scrubbed her down near the warmth of our wood burning stove. she's growing before our very eyes. she thinks she's tough stuff, i'm convinced, because when you hold her up she holds her head up all by herself and even tries to stand on your legs if you let her. what a big girl!

crib and sink

strange title, yes i know. but today two monumental things took place in elise's life. first of all-the crib. jay and i have been talking about when to have her make that giant leap from sleeping in the bassinet in our room to the crib in her room. we had talked about the six week mark being a good time, but as that time as arrived...i have grown a bit sad about not having my little bugaboo right next to the bed during the night for me to check on her. well, in light of that...elise had a blow out diaper last night. (not what you might think though) her diaper had come undone on one side, so that when she did her normal post-feeding tinkle, it went all over the pj's, the onesie, her, the sheets, and the blankets. she was soaked! after getting her cleaned up, changed and fed...i realized..."where is she going to sleep now?" the only answer: the crib. i crawled back into bed after getting her situated and justin sleepily says, "where did you put her?" i was too quick (and not with my wits about me yet) to tell him the truth, "she's in her crib." only a few seconds later did i come up with a witty answer, "she's with josie." too late...he didn't believe me.
second big event: the sink. well in light of her blow-out-pee elise needed a bath more than you could imagine! the poor thing smelled awful. so i used the dual-sinks in our bathroom. she was on a towl between them. one sink had soapy water and the other had clean water. i used the soapy to wipe her down and the clean to rinse her off. but just to see how she liked it, i held her and dipped in her the clean side...she loved it! more baths to come in the sink i think :)
sad to say though, i have no pictures of the crib or the sink...but here are some others of late.
she's such a sweetheart!
sleeping with her daddy
sticking her tongue out at me
getting kissed by mama
hanging out with her buddy, jack

6 weeks

i can't believe it, but elise will be 6 weeks old this week! unbelievable! we went to the pediatrician today and she's over 22 inches long now and 9.4 lbs! her weight is average they said, but her height is in the 95%...where is this height coming from?! i am just in awe at how fast she's growing. before i know it she'll be walking, talking...and then she'll be a teenager! i know i'm jumping ahead of myself, but i want to enjoy every minute of my time with her. God has blessed us greatly with her and i don't want to miss any of it!
